In my recent visit to Pakistan I have seen many imported expensive cars in Lahore. I have heard that there is no duty to be paid on cars which are imported in Pakistan, is that true? If there is a duty to be paid then suddenly how come there are huge number of imported cars on the road? Are people no more poor in Pakistan?

toyota landcrusier lc5 that cost me with all the

wheels tyres and in car entertamint cost me 41693 pounds

it cost me 23254 pounds so dont think you can bye a old toyta or bmw or any other car and export it for a couple of punds

I have recently sent a vahicle from uk to karachi, it was honda civic 2000 1.5 engine, I bought it for £2200 I paid £750 to ship it to karachi and in karachi they have charged me nearly £5100 that is 5, 50, 000 Rupees. And that car cost me nearly 9, 00, 000 rupeese till end. AND you can buy this car in pakistan for 7, 50, 000 rupeese. So here is the outcome. Now you can calculate profit and loss.

I calculated the duty and its almost 110% of the car price which doesn't worth for me.So, i decided to buy a new car in pakistan. But i am wondering, in karachi, showrooms are full with big imported vehicle ( including SURF, MURANO, LAND CRUISER etc ) i am wondering if the duty is too much then how these cars came into pakistan ....

I am quite surprised to see an whelming response from overseas pakistanis or some who are born here (uk/us/aus/nz etc etc etc)

The current policy allows everyone to be able to import a car to pakistan as long as you fulfil the criteria.

YES its not ur usual ferry to Dublin or Calais or a ride across the border. That is why it looks complicated. The rules only allow cars which are upto 3 yrs old at the time of releasing them in pakistan.

Anything older than that in my experience has had no joy, unless you have a "sugar daddy" which in this day of time has got to be One of the Zardari's or shariff family.

In simpler words, to aid the ailing economy and support the local industry of honda toyota suzuki etc etc the Govt imposes very high duty in pakistan. Its just lack of governance and yes un educated feudal ministers who have been responsible for these outdated policies.

Anyway. You are NOT going to find the prices by asking people around on forums at all. each car is treated separatly on its own value and the "Miraculous formula" or "the whip of taxes" is the same. if i say 150-300% of the value that you paid, dont be laughing. Someone suggested its cheaper to buy it over there...which i think is about right...

I dont knwo the business about reconditioned cars...o9nce i am enlightend regarding that, i mught post a msg.
