Husband and I have been researching a move to CA for sometime now and are concentrating on Panama for several reasons. Other countries we have looked at are CR(seriously) and Belize(minimally. Right now Panama is #1. Some tings I wouldlike some feed back on are: How is the infrastructure specifically getting phone lines and the internet service. internet is imperative for hubby's work. Is internet dial-up, high speed, cable, satellite or all of the above? We have a young son and he is currently attending a Montessori Academy in the U.S. we would either like him to continue at a Montessori or be home schooled therefore location may be of importance, we do not want to live in a congested city, I found a Montessori school atEscuela Montessori de Panama San Francisco, Panama Mailing Address: zona 9 pma, pma. Central America Panama City , 7805 Panama is anybody familiar with the surrounding locations? Could anyone recommend towns or communities near this address that they would suffest to research for us to make a home? We have done a lot of research and next is to spend some time there, it would be helpful to hav an idea as to where to visit regarding our sons needs. In case that we decide to homeschool, any recommendations to areas that are great for a family to consider or areas that we should steer clear of is appreciated. thanks docniss Trackbacks

What is inspiring you to move south? economics? quality of life? politics? adventure?Besides the school and internet what are your main needs? Have you looked at South America? You might find some better infrastructures and different types of problems. One of the big problems here in Brazil is eating way too much excellent beef! In Panama City you should have little problem with high speed internet. Watch out for satellite (its not necessarily fast, unless very expensive and either way you have significant ping times). Outside of Panama City you luck with internet may vary and you should make sure (doubt check, triple check) exactly what is available at a give location (the exact house/apt you want) before you rent/buy.

Cerro azul, 30 minutes from Panama City comes to mind. So is Gatun (old Panama C) seen some one selling a house for 20, 000. Excellent infra structure. But Panama City is the largest city in the country. best bet?...Fly and look around.

Please check my blog above, I have just inserted a list under links which has more schools. I highly recommend you visit all schools to find the best fit. My son goes to Oxford School which is big but has a good curriculum. In my experience, all schools here are not perfect, and some much more expensive than others. It depends if you can take the time to do some home support also. Also more information and stories can be found at my other website for our Vacation Apartments and B&B: www dot cerritotropicalpanama dot com

Me, My wife and 10 year old son are thinking of relocating to Panama.I will be retiring. We purchased property (on a whim!) near David in 2002 . It is 4.25 acres of farm land. We are not sure though now if this is really the best area for us due to lack of english speaking schools and other misc reasons. Can anyone tell us generally how things are going for you and your family and how your kid's schools are working out? I ask because we are cosidering areas near Panama City as well. Mike and Allison

Hi, my husband and I are looking at the possibility of moving to Panama in a year or so. we may help out a friend opening a restaurant in Cerro GrandeWhat are some nice towns for families we have 3 boys 6, 4 and 2 and it will be quite a transition for them, although we have a Honduran living with us now who is helping us out with Spanish. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone with younger children, schooling etc. What are the restaurants like in Panama? What do you like or dislike about the selections. What should we expect to pay for rent or to purchase a house? I think that is all for now, I am sure I will have many more Also I work with the deaf here in the states and would like to continue to do so in Panama, anyone have any information of deaf schools, churches, culture etc? questions. Thanks guys and God bless,

I am a Montessori teacher with a Masters in Early Childhood Education and am interested in moving to Panama. I have two private Montessori Preschools that serve children infants through six years of age. I would be interested in teaching in a Montessori school or start one. I've just started to check this out. Thanks in advance for any information you wish to share. Blessings.
