Connections and Hotels in Panama City

I am flying through Panama City next month and needed to find a hotel for one night and the same on my return.

I found a big name tour company that offerred airport transfers and hotel resevations. Good one easy package.

I emailed and asked about the transfers a cheap hotel and and maybe a tour. They quoted me $88 times 2 for the 2 stops or a total of $176. The response was fast.

I emailed again asking for the trip without the tours as it seemed to be a night tour of the Panama City bars.

No answer. Waited weeks, no answer. Had someone who's first language is Spanish call and they wanted to talk to me instead. Said to send my email again.

Now with the first email I was just shopping. When I sent the second one I was READY TO BUY!

A few days after I resent the second email (which included the original email reply) they replied and said the total cost for my trip would be "TOTAL AMOUNT: $ 2, 431.00".

When I complained about the increased price (I though it should have dropped without the tours), I was informed the $2, 431 was for "65 NIGHTS AT THE HOTEL".

Now, maybe it was just a problem understanding my english, but "no tours" changing into 65 nights a hotel is a big stretch especially when I has a fluent spanish speaker on the phone and they refused to talk to her!

I decided to search out something else! I found the Riande Airport hotel. With rooms at $60 + tax and free airport pickup, I'll save some money and stay at a much nicer hotel.
