Steinmetz family history

I'm looking for any family history/genealogy on the Steinmetz families of Bushkill, Northampton, Pennsylvania. I'm especially interested in Gideon Steinmetz (1836) and Samuel Steinmetz (1808) or any Steinmetz' around the mid to late 1700's.

Was there anything (flood, political uprising, growth boom) in and around 1870 in this area?

My family came to the US from Germany the year President Lincoln was asasinated. We setteled around philadelphia pa. My Grandfather Joseph had three brothers Harry, George and bobby.
