First of all, I am new to this group, so if this topic has already been aired here, I'm sorry to be repeating it. However, I suspect it has not been raised before.
I refer to the fact that you call yourselves Filipinos and you call your country the Philippines.
Other nations which gained their independence from foreign oppressors soon changed their country's name back to what it was before
colonisation.
You name your country and your race after your worst enemy, your worst tormentor, King Philip of Spain. 'Filipino' means 'little Philip, ' so
you call yourselves little clones or little slaves of your worst enemy, your worst tormentor.
If you had any respect for yourselves, you would call yourselves anything but 'Filipinos.'
I have tried to talk to Filipinos about this issue in the past, but they 'blanked' me.
The question has been raised - why is the Philippines still so poor when Japan, S. Korea, China have grown rich? Could it be a lack of
self respect in Filipinos. If you continued to call yourselves 'Filipinos' after you became independent, then you have no respect for
yourselves. Who are the Filipinos? Little Philip? Little slaves of King Philip?
I love the Philippines and its people. But I ask you to find your roots. Have the self respect to call yourselves who you are, and not the insulting and degrading term 'Filipinos.'
Who are you?
