Is Philippines generally GLBT friendly? For anybody who does not know what GLBT means, it means Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transexual. I really dont know much about how the GLBT community is viewed over in Philippines. Does anybody know?

You know joker, that is an interesting topic and I would also like to know from some of the locals or even tourists how it is in the Philippines. That was a great topic to find out more information on.

I actually found out the answer at a wikipedia page. The GLBT community is generally tolerated in the Philippines. There seems to be anti same sex marriage over there though. More information can be found here:

Joker, funny you should post this question, as I just returned from the Philippines studying this self same question. How is it tolerated in the Philippines? Heh, I've never seen so many gays, lesbians, and transsexuals in my life. The cities are overflowing, but while friends will gladly say "okay" and move on, with family, it is not discussed. Period. If you are gay, that's fine, just don't ever SAY you are. *shrugs* If you have more questions, or something more specific, feel free to e-mail me and ask, ^ ^.

The Philippines is more liberated than any other country I've been to when it comes to the GLBT. While gay marriage is still not accepted here. Gays are openly accepted. Most businesses and people are accepting of gays. Gay couples can be seen everyone you go. The family units here either tend to accept their gay offspring and siblings or they simply do not discuss it. There is a very high population of GLBT here. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
