Hi Everybody, I am supposed to be in Romania in a couple of months and would be staying for 1 year or so. I would be managing software projects for my company in India. # What would be the normal pay in Bucharest for somebody in my position (or similar) ? # What would be the total monthly cost of living in Bucharest with a one bedroom apartment, internet, heating, etc ? # Should I be worried about racism ? (No offense meant, I just want to know before making a decision.) Thanks in advance. Suman

Hi, A friend of mine has also been offered a job by RODIPET. Could anyone give details of the company? Also, the company is paying in USD and not in Euros. Is that a good idea?

ATTENTION TO: InRomaniafromRomania, Kev & Kadambari, I would like to contact you all. You can email me at le.routard@hotmail.com I am 26 years old, college graduated in International business & Marketing, speak English, French & Spanish. I was offered a 3 year contract with Rodipet Business Solution after having worked for companies such as Procter & Gamble and Walmart. I am in the process of accepting this offer but would love to get in touch with you all to know more about this company and the country. The company´s web page looks quite reliable and things are running smoothly so far, which is normally a good sign for me. I am very excited about all the new things that could come along with this experience but still have some fuzzy doubts. I would appreciate if you could drop me off an email Kind Regards, Andres

Hi Everyone, I was researching the cost of living in Romania and came across a website that gives exact figures for the cost of living in Transylvania (rent, utilities, food etc.) For Example, Rental Accommodation (These are town prices. Village prices would be less expensive) Studio apartment - 100/150 per month One-bedroom apartment - 150/250 per month Two-bedroom apartment - 200/400 per month House - 200/500 per month Check it out: www.romtrade consult.com /Living-expenses.htm Kind Regards, Amber.

HiThe prices from romtrade are lower than the real ones, at least for accommodation. You will pay around 300E for 1 One-bedroom apartment in an usual place. In the center you can pay around 1000E for 60 sqm apartment. The utilities are not included so you will have to pay for those also (around 170 Eur during winter and 70 during summer). /Max

hello guys, @Sunil&Nisha Rodipet is a company wellknown here in Ro. Bucharest living cost are way to high for this offer. just think that now since we are a "memeber of EU" all thinks are calcualted in euros. the usd salary is low. 1850 usd is 4600 RON the national currency. out of this you will pay 1000 to 1500 rent of a flat. 500-700 transportation. 1000 food for 2 people. car...you cant think to rent a car or buy one with this offer. climate...we had -16 C and a 45cm 18-20inch layer of snow. just think that you have to buy chlotes for winter and for summer as well. if they will offer arround 2000 EURO for the 2 of you I think is ok. as a second think if you will not be located in Bucharest you can survive with the 1850 usd. just to let you know that I as romanian, I`m still thinking if is ok to move to Bucharest and the company that wants me offered me 1200 euros for startup 1500 after 3 monts trial period.

Those who got offers from Rodipet should not consider it. It is a dubious company which is making offers to foreigners just by seeing the resume and without any proper interview. They hire foreigners and make them work under harsh conditions. This information I got from my friend who is a Romanian. All the best

KD Thank you very much! Your comment is very helpfull to me.

translation:"Warning to all chileans that have seen a post in "computrabajo" to work as hotel staff or hotel manager in Romania: please be veeeery careful. This is a company that retains the passport and doesn't fulfill its job offer or promise. The initially send a job offer, a loyalt contract, and an individual job contract. The "say2" the offer housing in their hotels, but the truth is that the jam people in small rooms. They don't keep their word when they say they're going to pay and make you work overtime without pay. And you can't complain or leave them because they have your passport. The owner of the company is Hassan Awdi, who has a lot of "history" in legal terms. "

wow... with all of this discussion, it didn't look encouraging for people seeking a move to Bucharest/Romania.Anyone can comment about living in Ploiesti area? is it a nice place for family? I had seen quite a lot of villas and apartments over there and costing euro2500-3000 per month. that's extremely expensive. With the local Romanian salary of ~euro1000 per month, I still dont understand how many expats are there in romania that can afford such an expensive houses??? • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 2 • Page 3 • Page 4 (Newest Replies) •
