Moving to Timisoara

Hi! My name is Liliana and my husband was offer a management position in an American company he's already working for. We are moving to Timisoara in about a month. He is offered 1400 euros a month and the company covers our rent, car and gas. Can anyone tell me if that is a good offer for the area? I know that prices are considerably lower when not in Bucharest.

Also, do schools offer Spanish as foreign language? I am an ESL teacher, but here in the States I teach Spanish, since I am originally from Argentina and am a native speaker.

My last question has to do with child care. We have a 2-year-old daughter and she's currently going to daycare. How does child care work in Romania in general? Is it expensive? Is it common?

Hello,

i live in Timisoara. What i can tell you, that 1400 eur , if this is the net salary, than it's a decent payment, but not an extraordinary salary. you have to consider that you are 3 persons and until you will find a job, it might take some time...as far as i know, you can teach Spanish in private language centers, not at public schools, because there are many people who graduated the foreign language university and the offer is quite big...so it won't be easy..also, for teachers, payments are quite low, so i don't think that you will earn more than 400 euros.

I don't know if they will also pay the house expenses (heating, electricity, internet, gas, etc) - but this also might go up to 150-200 euro , especially during winter, when the heating is very expensive.

I don't want to disapoint you, but this salary is enough for a normal, avarage life style, nothing extravagant...

Food is also quite expensive, so consider of spending at least 300 euros per month,

Cloths are also not cheap at all, , ,

Going out and having fun - also not cheap at all..

My name is Adriana and I am planning to relocate to Timisoara from Chicago now in August.

I just wanted to ask you if finally you could find a job there in Timisoara???

How is life there??? I am Romanian but not from Timisoara;lived in USA for 8 yrs. and decided to go back and live in Timisoara because of some personals issues.

If you have time, please, let me know how you could adjust yourself there?what opportunity for job are there?how is life there?...and... by the way...do you know any American company there?or Romanian-American company?

I have to look for a job a.s.a.p after I will get in Timisoara because I have a 9 yrs. old son and I have responsibilities and there I have only one friend which can give me some information about this matter.

Maybe you can help me at least with some ideas considering that you passed threw this experience.

Hi, I'm living in Timisoara and getting ready to move to the US with my fiancée. I'm trying to find a moving company here in Timisoara for shipping our things to the US.

Would you be interested in possibly taking over our apartment here? It's clean and a nice apartment that is actually pretty inexpensive.

Thanx Corina for the info! I wish I had read it earlier. I haven't visited this web site since we arrived in Timisoara, so well, after 4 months living here, I can tell you that you are quite right.

I am still struggling with the language, and with many other things, but all in all, is not that terrible. Thank you!
