Hollywood comes to Hilton Head with the arrival of husband-and-wife team Hallie Todd and Glenn Withrow, who will be teaching a film acting workshop. Todd and Withrow will teach the workshop for teens and young adults aged 12 and up between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 8 and noon and 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Harbour Town Yacht Club. Those interested in participating should register by Oct. 17.
“In LA, a lot of people teach acting and coach privately, but Hallie and I offer the unique perspective of not only making a living in this business, but enjoying long and fruitful careers in a notoriously competitive industry, ” said Withrow.
Todd is best known for her role as Jo McGuire from the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” series, and writer-director-actor Withrow has worked extensively with director Francis Ford Coppola.
The workshop costs $500 and includes 12 hours of training in scenes, monologues and on-camera technique with Todd and Withrow. Each student will receive a DVD demo reel of their best class work.
Students of Hallie Todd Studios have found success in feature films, including Nick Palatas of “Scooby Doo: In the Beginning” and Courtney Burness of “Premonition”; TV guest-starring roles, including Lianna Liberato on FOX’s “House”; and regular series roles, including Brett Delbuono of A&E’s “The Cleaner” and Aidan Mitchell of FX’s “The Riches.”
Both Todd and Withrow said they are more excited than ever about training and guiding a class of new students.
“I’m enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge and experiences in the industry with the up-and-coming actors from the Hilton Head area, ” said Todd. “It’s important to guide the next generation of actors and help them avoid some of the common pitfalls of the business.”
