To start with im not a republican or democrat just and american trying to take care of my family.IT started back in july of 93 when i was hurt and was told i would end up in a whell chair with in 10 years . I sunk into alchol to forget my problems , I was 33 this went own for 7 years in then i met the love of my life . She stole my heart she could see past my phisacale problems , wich couldnt be easy seing how my left leg drags my left arm or hand dont work right and my back is worthless .My now wife Dawn made me whole agin and i put down the drinking .My wife had been maried befor and had kids wich didnt bother me .I look at them as my own .But unfortunatly i could not handale the financial part of it on just my disabilaty.the father of Ray decided he wasnt paying child support so we started the legal perseshers to make him pay .We run in to a brick wall called the S.C.CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT DIVISON.We paid the fee to get them to handale the case.My wife told me of hor ror she had face with these pepole and to honest with you i just didnt beleve her I told it couldnt be legal to treat pepole like that them being a state agency and all .Boy was I wrong .We were treated in short like garbage. We receved a letter stateing we were sceduled for a hearing and if we didnt show up are case would be closed and a list of what we couldnt ware to court.excuse me but i learned how to dress my self as a kid.Well we pulled Danny are little girl out of school becase we couldnt make the trip to Columbia and be back in time to pick her up .So off we go to Columbia only to si t in the court room for 2 hours to be told he didnt show up and they cant even tell us if he was served to show up.So we came back home and start pushing agin we get another court date make the trip agin same thing after hours of sitting there no show agin .So we come home agin and start over yet agin .Yea we get another letter back agin but this time were told after we get there that he c alled in and said he couldnt make it so are case worker Ken Willams tells him hell rescadule for him .So you know weve had this same case worker for over 3 years and never met him tryed a bunch of times but he allways out of the office are with another client so were told .Weve called a buch of times only to get his voice mail and no return call.After this i had to tell my wife she was right about them and i was sorry fo doubting her [boy did that suck]At this point we gave up i decided i would give up my disabilaty and try to start are own bissness .So contacted the disabilaty fund wich i s supose to be set up to help disabled pepole get low intrest loan to help them start are improve there bissness so they can get off and stay off disabilaty .well they sent me 2 names and numbers to pepole in my state the use for this well i called the # to find they were no longer in service when i let them know this they cut off contact with me all together. so next it was the charleston b issness betterment assosiation , if i could have met there requerments hell i wouldnt need them .Next the small buisness adminastration at less they were mersavale and told me up front they couldnt help .Next state vocatonail rehab to be told i was in to bad a shape they couldnt risk the money on me becuse they had limited funs to help pepole with and they have to pick and chose who they help.AT this point i didnt no what to do i new i couldnt let the kids do with out you see we dont receve food stamps are nothing like that .So me and dawn start going to auctions and buying stuff a n d resaleing in the front yard to make extra money while we could fight child support agin and we were doing good with it.So we start over with child support agin we get the letter go back to Columbia wich is a 100 miles each way to be told the same thing yet agin .He didnt show up and they dont even know if he was served .This time i had had it So we went to there maine office but of co urse ken wasnt avlabale agin .I told them so one had to tell us something so they brought us back set us down in front of this lady that was a case worker she look over are file and said she couldnt tell us much we needed to talk to ken .Ill never forget her face she looked me in my face and told me if i wasnt happy fell free to contact my legeslatters . So i did i contacted my local legeslatters only to be totally ignored .So next was the govener Mark Sanford well to my suprise his office called it was lady name carmen said she worked for the govener and they way we were treated was just wr on g and she was going to do what she could to help .thought we were finally makeing head way.she called back that afternoon to tell my wife that she had contacted child support and we wouldnt have to go back to columbia anymoore and we would get a new case worker .Which wasnt true we contacted child support they said if we didnt show up they would close are case and we still had to deal with ken .SO next senater Lyndsey Gram next morning a call come from his charleston office wich was a joke and 4 days latter a letter come from him telling me this is not a federal issue. next senater Merschers office debbie called said she would help and she did we receved a child support check but now there saying they will only go back a year and the rest were just out of luck were still watting for the court date. By the way thank u verry much DEBBIE .You would think that was enough yea right. Danny's dad decided he wasnt paying child support even though he was under court order so we cont act child support devison agin they tell us they cant find him so we track him down and provide them with the address hes staying at .Well its been close to two years now and nothing.Me and Dawn kept the buing and saleing up and the next thing you know Berkeley county shows its ugly head says we cant do that here because its not comercial land but i had been comercial taxes for ever so gote by that .Next the tell us we cant have outside storage so we buy tents to sale under .NEXT they send a lady out to check are S.C sales tax liscens we have that .Well the constit fighting and working for the last 3 years finally toke its tole i went down the first of September and havent been able to walk on my on sence and for the first time in my life im scared . But i know in my heart i cant give up if for no other reason my kids .You see my elected officals want even try to change this sytem .My govener is running adds on tv talking about his open door policy if you have problem i ll t alk to u yea right and he has young kids . and LYNDSEY well i want go there .DEBBIE thank you so much for what you did if theses so called men dont stand up and do something its like sticking your thumb in a crumbaling dam .I wish Mark sanford would look down at his kids and just think about all the kids in s.c. that are going hungry tonight.
