Looking for newspaper clippings, video footage including local news stories, ANYTHING. I am writing a research paper on this man and it is so hard to find anything on him. I have both books and the DVD but thats it........I am in TN so anything would be appreciated.

Just saw a commercial on this on PBS. Don't know if it's too late for your paper. This is South Carolina's PBS station, so you may/may not get to see it in your area--but it's worth a try.

Near Charleston SC ..In early January 1973 , I believe it was because duck season was in, my friend Harold and I were going duck hunting on Dorchester creek , which is just above Trolley road and the Dorchester road intersection. Back then there was nothing around there but woods, and I belonged to a hunting club in that area. Just past the creek ther was a small picnic area just before the road that go's to Old Fort Dorchester state park. We would park there and cross Dorchester road to hunt.On this day we pulled into the picnic area and there was a green or blue pickup truck, at the left end of it nose down off the edge nearest the creek. The back tires about off the ground. We no sooner had stopped when a girl, maybe in her early 20's jumped from the passenger side of the truck, and ran towards us ,screaming help me he beat me up. Her mouth was busted and her face was beat up, and she was crying and very obviously in great distress. A man got out of the other side, and came towards us. I was driving , and the guns were on the seat pointed down towards the floor, I told Harold to put a shell in that gun now.. and he did. All the man said was " If youre gonna help me thats fine, if youre gonna help her you better get the hell out of here ". The girl ran past us and out to the road which was only 10 or 20 yards away. About then a jeep, I think it was white, with 2 guys who looked to be sailors, stopped and picked her up. Im think I got out of the car and Harold stayed in with his hand on the shotgun. It was'nt long before we got our 16 year old tails out of there. To this day, I have never thought that man was anyone other than Pee Wee Gaskins. What he did after that I dont know, but he did'nt kill that girl.

I am a retired Supervisory Agent of the Forensic Photography Department of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). I have a taped copy of the PBS program on Pee Wee that aired here in SC, and would be happy to send you a copy if you do not have one if it would help with your research. It was very well done, and very factual.

I just authored a book, "Carolina Crimes, Case Files of a Forensic Photographer" that was released in September 2006 by History Press in Charleston, SC. One case included is the Resentencing Trial of Rudolph Tyner, which is the person Pee Wee murdered on death row with a homemade bomb, and was later electrocuted for. RE: Pewee Gaskins _ In the early 1970's, sometime about 1973, I owned a motorcycle - not a very good one. It constantly broke down. I was stranded near Johnsonville / Hemingway, SC and a bizare looking man driving a hearse stopped and asked me if I needed help. I had seen this vehicle cruising the are often and just thought it was some nut. I had already called for help with my bike and turned down his offer to give me a ride...good thing as it was Pewee gaskins. Of course during those years he was unknown as a serial killer, even though his killing spree was well under way. I was working at the time for a steel mill in Georgetown, SC and eventually became their industrial photographer. This eventually led me to a position as a police officer with the Charleston, SC police department where I did much of the foresnisc and crime scene photography. One of my assignment took me to the Medical University Pathology Lab to photograph the remains of a young woman. All that remained of her body was a skeleton, some skull hair ( redish brown as I recall ) and a leather mini skirt ( dark brown suede as I recall ) and a matching fringed purse ( the sort that hippies, bikers often carried in those years ) We were told at the time that it was a victim of Pewee Gaskins, to which he had identified as his niece ( I think ). It was not until I read his book that I realized that this man was the guy in the hearse and that I could have easily been one of his victimes the day my chopper broke down, as in those days I was long haired, sort of hippie and very trusting. I also did not learn until years later when I read the book on this killer that the skeleton I had photographed was not his reltive, but rather a young female hitchiker that he had killed, and he told the opolice that it was someone else to throw them off a burial site where other victims had been laid to rest in shallow graves. It gives me the creeps when I think about the innocent people he killed, how easily he picked them up and gained control over them I can assure you though that I would have gone down in a fight and not surrendered to his sickness.

I am a retired Criminal Investigator with the SC Dept. of Corrections. When Pee Wee murdered Rudolph Tyner i was testified twice for the prosecutors and the defense once with backfired big time. I new Pee Wee personally and interviewed him many times in prison. Thanks, Roy Corbitt, 803-796-1762.

I knew Pee Wee very well. Spent many hours talking to him. Feel he may have trusted me, but I never trusted him, in fact I was scared of the little guy.

Think he never had a true friend, and those he considered friends, in his mind he believed he was acting as a friend when ending their life. He was an incredibly cruel and disturbed man, but also extremely fearful of his own pain and death. He was not formally educated, but very cunning, manipulative, and morbidly intelligent.

His ultimate fate was very justified, just too late for his victims. I very much believe his desire was to spend eternity in Hell, where he would feel accepted, needed, and effective.

My name is Jack Cutter and I live in Panama City/Callaway, Florida. I was just doing some research on S.C. Serial Killer Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins, who murdered my half-sister, Kim Ghelkins, who was 13 years old, at the time in Charleston, in 1975. My Mother, who was Helen (Maiden name: Richard) Ghelkins at the time of Kim's death & also the mother of Kim.

Here is what I know of Kim's death:

Kim Ghelkins, who was 13-year-old and a friend of Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins who angered him by rejecting his sexual overtures. Pee Wee reacted in his typical style by raping, torturing and strangling her, and planting her body in the woods. All of our family knew Pee Wee, as he lived down at a fishing camp at that time, and everyone believed Pee Wee had done something to Kim...as he was the last person to have seen her alive. By October 1975, my Mom & Kim's Dad knew enough of her movements to suspect Pee Wee Gaskins of murder. A Sumter deputy sheriff searched Pee Wee’s home and found some of Kim’s clothes in his closet, afterward securing statements that she was often seen in his company. The evidence would not support a murder charge, but Pee Wee Gaskins was indicted for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which was Kim. He had taken off to Georgia on a trip before the police searched his home and when he returned from Georgia on Nov. 14, 1975, he found that the police was staked out around his house. Pee Wee Gaskins dodged them and made his way to the local bus station, planning a return to Georgia, but officers nabbed him before he could leave. Unable to post bond, Pee Wee Gaskins sat in jail for three weeks before the storm broke. Walter Neely, an ex-con, who had been a friend of Pee Wee's and that helped him kill some people, told the police on advice from a neighborhood minister everything that he knew about Pee Wee Gaskins, which was about people that Pee Wee had killed. He led authorities to Pee Wee’s graveyard, where victims Bellamy and Knight were unearthed on Dec. 4, 1975. A day later, diggers found the bodies of 36 years old car thief Johnny Sellars, his 22 years old girlfriend Jessie Ruth Judy, Avery Howard, an 35 years ex-con who Pee Wee had knew from one of his prior incarceration in the S.C. prison system, his girlfriend Diane Neely, who was also the ex-wife of Walter Neely....all who Pee Wee had killed. On Dec. 10, 1975, Walter Neely led the authorites also to the graves of Doreen Dempsey, who was 23 years old at the time of her death and her child, two years old daughter Robin Michelle Dempsey. Pee Wee Gaskins knew Doreen Dempsey from his carnie days. An unwed mother pregnant with her second child in December 1973, she planned on leaving town that month and accepted Pee Wee’s offer of a drive to the local bus station. Instead, he drove into the woods and there demanded sex. Doreen agreed, then balked when Pee Wee started to undress her child. Pee Wee killed Doreen with a hammer, then raped and sodomized her child before strangling her to death and burying both victims together. Years later, he would recall his brutal assault on Robin Michelle Dempsey as the best sex of his life. Pee Wee claimed & struck a pose of injured innocence, but all in vain. Looking back on that chaotic month, he would recall, “the coroner had the bodies, Jesus had Walter, and the law had me.” Pee Wee killed a lot more people as I am sure you and most people that know anything about him know to be a fact. so I will not go into all of his murders. I believe, as all of my family also believe, he was an animal and I can not say I am sorry that he was electrocuted. He wrote a book, made a tape, and did numerous of interviews where he made money/profits from his murders...telling his story of how he brutually raped, tortured, killed children, women and men...and I understand that all of the profits/funds from everything went to his last wife and his daughter, which I assume still gets funds from everything, as people still buy his book, tape and interviews. I think long ago S.C. should have & needs to pass a law like Florida has that probits anything from profiting a crime he or she may committed.....all finds go into a victims fund. None of my family wants any of the funds from anything to do with him, but everyone hated to see him live off the funds he collected from all the murders he committed while he was still alive and sitting in prison.

I am going to try and order a copy of your book. I was born in Charleston and grew up most of my life in Sumter. My mother died a few years after Kim's death, and she never got over Kim's death. It was because of my mother and Kim's biological father, who my mother was married to at the time of Kim's death & her death, that Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins was finally arrested & saw his last day of freedom after killing so many people. They kept after him and where he was at, because they believed that he killed Kim, and finally got the police to search his residence and the police found Kim's clothes in his residence and arrested him.
