I will have a small place, warm with a pool and garden near Barcelona or in Andalusia, and I’ll fill it up with friends from Europe and New York, cousins from Buffalo and Florida and keep it a permanent floating easy salon. Really. I can maybe afford it.

Steve, Yes you can retire to Spain. I am an American and seriously considering moving to Spain when I retire in a little over a year. My wife is Spanish and still a citizen of Spain. I think that is an advantage. I have done some house hunting and find housing cost appear to be higher than where I live now, in Central Pennsylvania. We are looking in Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz. Like you I have a lot of questions I would like to ask. We are going over for a three week visit in September 07. Hopefully, I will have more answers and fewer questions when I come back.

Any retired military in Spain? What advice do you have regarding making the move over there?

I'm very close to retirement and have a local government gob in the state I live. I would like to know how much per month in U S dollars it would take to live in the Seville area.My father was born in Nerva Spain and I would like to stay close to that area of Spain. Huleva would be nice also. I'm planning my first trip to Spain in March of 09.

I also would love to find out about the paperwork necessary for a residence in Spain. I found some info on the American State Department site and the Embassy site. However any additional info would be great especially if someone has been though it or knows any other source for info. The different consulate of Spain has jurisdiction of certain parts. Since I am Georgia mine is www.cospainmaimi.org/

My daughter is studying in Spain for a year with two small children. I want to go with her to help with the young ones. I am also taking another fifteen year old grandchild who is under my guardianship. As what do I apply to stay the year in Spain? I am also 65, but not retired. My husband supports me and our older grand daughter. Thanks

Spain is an ideal location for retiring as it has very low crime rate and excellent transport facilities and modern healthcare services . • Page 1 (Original Post) •
