WHERE DID ALL THE COWBOYS GO

I was born and raised in Swaziland, I did not arrive here with mlungu from the ocean. In all the time that i have known and loved swaziland it has never demonstated its full potential within the arts sector. with such a wide availabilty of of topics available for artistic exploration, why is it that i have never seen anything remotely close to art that generates a discourse in the city? this is it, i have been searching for ways to produce works as an artist in swaziland for 3 months now, there are so many problems when it comes to being an artist in swaziland, excluding the the already stereotypical characteristics and behavioural associations with artists in general, that lead myself to the quetion: where have al the cowboys gone? when swaziland is a large and uncharted land.

There will be an Art Exhibition at House on Fire from 16th to 20th May, providing an opportunity for local artists to show their work.
