I obtained my Ph. D. degree in Plant science on the topic “Viability and variability in genus Swertia with particular reference to Swertia chirayita and S. anggustifolia in Garhwal and Kumaon Himalaya “. I gained a great deal of practical experience in the field of ecology and I always enjoy new challenges. I have an experience of more than six years in the field of forest ecology. During my affiliation with G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, Kosi-Katarmal, Almora, India, I worked in two research projects. The research work mainly focuses on: ecological assessment and mapping for selected medicinal plant species/different forest type, ethnobotanical study in the part of Western and Trans-Himalaya and developed propagation protocols for selected high value medicinal plants of Himalaya. While working for GBPIHED Research institute, I successfully applied my research skills and worked closely with researchers of various backgrounds. I supported the research in completing assigned experiments, and recorded and analyzed the data of different aspects of plant and soil analysis. This experience gave me the opportunity to work closely with a team of researchers, and helped me to understand the importance of good lab practice.

Prior to my current position, I was affiliated with Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, India and worked as a project manager in International Tropical Timber Organization, (ITTO), Japan, funded project on “Sustainable forestry development through community participation in India”. I am fortunate that I have worked in one of the premier Forest Management Institute and have helped in development of local level criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management and their implementation in respective study sites.

I'm familiar with ample number of techniques; Cell and Tissue culture, Genetic Transformation, PCR, RT-PCR, Southern, Northern, Western blot hybridization, Bio-physiochemical analysis and analytical chemistry. I have given training to M.Sc. student as well as Researchers too at ICRISAT, Hyderabad during my PhD course. Tradional control measures are not at all found suitable to cope up the situation.

The situation is alarming , and it is essential to find out a solution , which of course is inspiring me for further syudy espicially in the field of new diagnostic method, identification, host pathogen relationship and control of bacterial and fungal disease .
