I am sure there are lots of people who could use your services because they are finding themselves in a hole they either can't get out of, or just plain don't know how.

What do you normally do if a person has no resources to secure your services? I am sure that holds back a lot of people because they figure they can't afford to have someone help them.

I think many people let some kind of moral objective get in the way of seeking out bankruptcy as a solution to their financial problems. If nothing else, the filing of bankruptcy puts everything on hold and gives you some time to get things in order on your terms.

For example, and William can correct me if I am wrong, it may be advisable for someone to pay for a bankruptcy instead of paying a large bill that is past due. Of course, many lawyers offer a free consultation and you could get an answer based on your personal circumstances.

Another thing to remember of bankruptcy is that it is your right. Everyone you make a contract with (mortgage companies, auto loans, the electric company) all know you have the right to file bankruptcy. I can't imagine why anyone has a moral issue or would feel embarrassed to exercise any of their rights guaranteed by law.

The big companies, banks, mortgage companies, etc, all exercise their rights to market stuff to you and push you to the limits of your financial abilities.

I would agree that sometimes bankruptcy would be the way to go. I am curious though, whether it would resolve a large tax debt.

I don't know the rules that define forgiveness of an IRS debt, but unless that is part of the resolution and you don't have a lot of other debt, does it make sense?
