Does anyone know if it's possible for Brits to get residence permits to live in Tunisia? If so, where can I get details?I teach English as a Foreign Language, so could aply for a work permit if that's easier. Any suggestions? Trackbacks

Tunisia has an open door policy and there are no discrimination against foreigners coming and working in tunisia. however the law are quite strict and applications take time to be processed. to work in tunisia you will need to apply for a work/residence visa and you can do so once you are in the country. if your job is in a filed that is much sought after, mostly teaching, the university will sponsor your application. things are much easier if you want to set up business in the country but again some businessmen that i have frequented lament on the still yet complicated and lenghy procedures . the government has set up a dedicated organs called API, which i believe has an office in London. DFI is much sought after as long as you have the hard cash and the good idea. If your business is import-export related , you could benifit from huge exemption on income tax under the 1972 law , which exempts textile companies from local taxes if 100% of its product is for export (or near that figure) I would advise you set up a meeting with tunsian embassy staff in your country for further info. today most of this information is readily available online , please check this site www.investintunisia.com/ God luck

Hi I am moving to Monastir in January next year, initially for 6 months. Looking for information on schools for my 14 year old son and if anyone has any advice on how to make the move easier for him.

Hi Janine, you would do well to get your son learning basic french now and get him on a course once in Monastir to learn Arabi.he will find it hard but very rewarding I have two younger kids here at school and they have done and continue to do very well. The best way for your son to get into education would be in private French school, which is not expensive and depending on the school can be very good and if you have a home helper for him to assist in his homework and such for 1 hour each evening after school this will be even better.if I can be of any help please do not hesitate to ask.
