what happens after Bush if the USA gets nuked?

I am a retired Military, and I am afraid of what will happen if the US has a weak leader when Al Queada detonates a nuke or other WMD in a US city.

With Bush you know what will happen, the host nation would get invaded and the rulers and persons responsible would get fairly tried and put to death.

With a weak panicky leader (Al Gore, Clinton, etc.) I am afraid the retaliation would be quick, nuclear, and excessive.

Note read the capabilities of one Ohio Class sub:

The US has a bunch of them we wont even get into the other two arms of Triad

The Muslim world would wrongly cease to exist about 100 seconds after the order was given. It is a sin to kill a 100 million plus people for the actions of a few. But a frightened leader, I am afraid would do just that

I do not expect Al Queada to stop their attacks they are too intent on taking over Saudi Arabia. Anyone thinking that is not their main political target needs to be lead around by a small boy with a lamp. I only pray to god the US continues to have a strong leader, otherwise the whole Muslim world will be wrongly at risk.

I would appreciate hearing from another prospective to quiet this fear.
