This is by far our favorite restaurant in Montevideo. The service is excellent and the food is indescribable!

Unforunately, Malaka has closed and the owner is returning to Canada to spend more time with his family. He said the place opening in the same location should be good. Maybe by the end of Oct they will be open.

Oh NO! Malaka closed? Where will I eat when I go there in December. PAUL, if you read this...go back, re-open. PLEASE!This is the BEST restuarant in MVD and I've spent a LOT of time eating in restaurants in MVD over the last year...6 weeks of travel, eating out every meal...you get around. Unfortunately, I only found Malaka the last week I was in MVD (my first visit) but I made up for lost time by eating there as much as I could afte I found it. I've eaten a lot of great Asian (having lived in Central California (SF, Monterey, Carmel, LA, etc)...so I know good Asian and I was really impressed with Paul's offerings. I hate to hear it is closing...this CAN't be true?!?!? Renee

Hello. May I ask where I can find an Asian grocery that sells coconut milk, hot pepper paste, glutinous rice, etc. in Montevideo? I hope you can help me with this. Thank you so much.

I think Tienda Inglesa has coconut milk... the others you might check with Bamboo on San Jose (the address is more or less San Jose 1275). • Page 1 (Original Post) •
