Hi all,

I am taking a vacation to Uruguay this summer. I want to really enjoy my time in Uruguay wants to get the full experience. What are some places or things that I should do in Uruguay? I am looking for some suggestions.

Do you like cows? There are 3 or 4 times the cows than people here... so cow viewing is a good start!

No, seriously, hanging out on the beach or an estancia (farm) are goood activities.

If I were going to visit Uruguay I would visit the historic district and Colonia del Sacramento. Then I'd head over to the resort community of Piriapolis.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I don't know about the cows. LOL! I guess that's why Uruguay are so fond of cows since they love beef. Also, I am a real beach bum, LOL! I can't just sit on the beach for most of the visit but I plan on visiting some of the tourist spots.

Is Uruguay like a farming community? George, what's kind of attractions available in the historic district?

Uruguay is a country with a little over 3 million people. More or less half live in Montevideo (the capital). So the country is basically a big city and a lot of farm land.

Wikipedia has Uruguay 186 out of 230 for population density. Showing 3, 463, 197 people, 175, 016 sq km of land, and 19.8 people per sq km. Of course in the city the population density is much higher and outside much lower.

Compared to Costa Rica 4, 327, 228 people, 51, 100 sq km of land and 85 people per sq km.

Ciudad Viejo (old city) section of Montevideo has lots of old buildings. There is a great theater and many little museums all over town.

I think that one thing people love to see when tourists visit are the beaches. Montevideo has a long coastline, full of beaches, which gives the city a beautiful and special personality. The coastline is locally known as "la rambla".

There different things you can do while visiting Uruguay. I don't know which part of Uruguay so I'm naming random attractions.

If you like to place pictures or see historical buildings, you check out the Palacio Salvo. Palacio Salvo is a very striking building and located in Montevideo.

Also, you can check out the Parque Rodo in Montevideo. This is like an amusement park and has something for everyone.

, Pocitos: Bush's Limo
Well, Rambla is a word for Blvd and here La Rambla is used to refer to the road that follows the coast. Here is a photo of La Rambla in Pocitos with George W Bush hogging the whole road... and the beach.

Well I wouldn't want to travel across the country to sit on a beach and stare at cows!! I can do that here! LOL. I think the history of Uruguay would be quite interesting.

LOL! Yeah I can do that at home. I was just kidding about sitting on the beach for the whole trip. I am more of an adventurous person. I don't really like to sit for a long period of time. I prefer to be doing something for fun.
