My wife and I are pensioners looking into the possibility of retiring in Uruguay. The problem is that we have to have minimum pension income of $1,500 per month,but no uruguayan consulates are able to tell us whether that is for each person or whether $1,500 will be enough to cover both of us. Can anyone out there let us have a definite answer based on experience? Many thanks.

Michael

Michael;

My wife and I are currently in Montevideo. Exactly my same question to Immigration downtown - response was for family,

or both. We tried to get information externally with limited success.

The office down town is accessable. This is our second trip this year. Permits are and can be issued in country, just an

extra step as you may need to roundrobin to US.

Check COPA air fares thru Panama City, Panama. About $600 RR Miami.

Many inexpensive hotels for short stay Check IBIS near the US embassy and Tres Cruses near town. We don't recommend Cuidad

Vieje (old town) to stay - not dangerous just poor area. We will be n-country another 10 days in I can get any additional information or can bring a packet out to US to mail to you.
