We originally ordered basic cable TV from Montecable and it was fine. Installation was prompt and it worked fine. Then we made the mistake of upgrading to digital cable. It ended up being a downgrade.
With the Montecable digital cable tv you get a decoder box (of course). However, on the decoder box you get a small selection of channels (and convoluted selection of language and subtitles). You still have to use the channel selection on your regular TV for other channels.
You can't browse all the channels because you have to change between your TV and the Cable Box and two remotes. Additionally, if the cable box is unplugged you get absolutely no channels.
With the basic service there were occasional outages which would give a brief blanking of the screen and some static. On the digital channels the effect is much more dramatic (and obnoxious).
We called to ask to have the digital cable dropped and were told we can't until September. I even wanted to pay for it... I just wanted to get the obnoxious box (and service) out of my hair.
I will probably change to DirectTV before the contact with Montecable is up (even if I have to pay for their service), simply because I will have all the channels on one box.
