Is the food bland in this country? My understanding is that mexican food is really not spicy at all, but rather bland.

What does Mexican food have to do with Uruguay? There are a few Mexican restaurants in Montevideo. One of them I've found will make spicy food, the other two don't.

Though Uruguay and Mexico may both be in "Latin America" they are not similar. They are not even closed. To get to the Southern most point in Central America from Uruguay you have 7-1/2 hrs of flying time.
