Can anyone give me a rough guess of the cost of living. I am 64, single and currently reside in Costa Rica. Thank you

Depends on where you live in Uruguay. Punta del Este is the best place for living unless you like city life then Montevedeo is better. We have a place in Punta. Great standard of living. Probably your cost of living is about the same in Uruguay as it would be in Costa Rica. You can buy a one bed older flat on the beach for 75-100 USD in Punta del Este. That seems reasonable to me. Houses in Punta are 100 USDon up for what I think is very good quality. You can spend $1 million too for an apartment is you want. Surf the web and you'll see what's on offer. I bought my place from Reynolds in Punta. They speak English, are used toUS standrds. Ask for Alan. If you are interested in renting a great place two blocks from the ocean on a month to month basis, you can ask them about my place. Buying an auto there is expensive, don't know how it compares with Costa Rica, but the taxes are high. Good luck.

"Minimum Residency Amount Uruguay"
I too am interested in Uruguay and the max costs for residency acceptance. But I'm curious about the 63 year old from Costa Rica I am 63, Canadian and am torn between Costa Rica, Panama or Uruguay when I retire in 13 months. Why would you want to leave Costa Rica for Uruguay? I spoke with a fellow Torontoniam today who confirms the $500 amount required by Uruguay. Not sure where this larger figure is coming from. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
