What is the best time to travel to Uruguay? What time of year? We enjoy warm weather, but not to overbearingly hot and is there a certain time when it can get too touristy?

The colder it is in the usa the warmer it is here. Punta del Este the "hot tourist" spot will be very busy Jan, Feb, less so in Dec and Mar and more or less a ghost town the rest of the year.Outside of Punta del Este I don't think you need to worry about any part being too touristy, anytime. June, July it will almost hit freeze (warmer if you are further north than Montevideo).

Thanks! Sounds like December may be a good time to travel. That is our favorite time to travel anyways so it is good to know. Just want to make sure what to pack. I always try to pack light, but I never know what type of weather to expect.

I was thinking of visiting around November and my friend told me that was one of the slow months. I think I will take you guys advice and plan a trip for the end or beginning of the year.

In December you won't be needing anything heavy or even a light jacket in the day. If you are out late at night you might want a light wind breaker.Your problem will be departing the rainbow and return. If you want to hang out on the beach mid December or later would be my recommendation. If the beach isn't in your plans 365 days a year are great. Today was the first day of the year I wore a light jacket going out in th early evening and it wasn't really necessary. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
