You can buy a 50 year land lease and build your own property ... things may change in the future where non-viets are able to buy property there.

Dear sirdo you sell hotel or guest house or resort in Vietnam? regards nava

The answer is NO! But, it is possible to lease appartments, condos long term (30 years). The situation is slightly different for Foreign Invested Companies and in Industrial Parks. The situation may change over time as evrything changes here, however it is unlikely that foreigners will be allowed to buy and sell real estate anytime soon

If so, what is the percentage of tax I have to pay? 3- When I want to resell the property, am I allow to take the money out of VN? 4- Which organisation do I have to contact in order to find out more details about the current ownership policy of the government? Hi Everyone, My wife and and I are planning to retire in Vietnam. We Have built 2 homes there already. We are both American Citizens. My family are all in the United States but my wife's relative are still in Vietnam. I'm looking to start a small American expatriate community. We've have been traveling back to Vietnam since 1992. Our country home is about 3000 sq.ft. in the Ba Ria/Vung Tau resort area. An american built, world class casino resort will be open in 2010. This resort will consist of 5 Vegas style casinos and a 200 acres Greg Norman designed golf course. This resort will be 26 miles from our home. 27 miles to the North East toward Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) there will also be a new international airport to be built by 2010. I'm trying to see how many people are interested.

Robert, #18;I certainly am interested in an expat community in Vietnam. I don't think I am very interested in the high prices that will result from being close to a major casino area. I'm American, retired from the U.S. Army, been living in Thailand for 12 years but just about tired of it. Of concern is cost of land and construction, long term visa availability, possibility of ownership, availability of rentals; to start.
