Do you enjoy living there?
John Price (4.226.219.19) -
I was in the war there in 1968. I was a grunt but all that aside I loved the people and the beauty of the country. I'm considering moving there and wanted to get input. I also have a situation and wanted to know how to overcome it. As I understand one may not receive Social Security checks in country nor investment capitol. How are you guys addressing those issues? Also how much money does one need monthly to live a moderate lifestyle?I would enjoy all of the information I can get. Thanks - John Trackbacks

Hey John it takes about $1000 a month to live well in Saigon distrect 9, , , , not center city. One can buy a nice "western"--meaning sitdown toilet, , , and hot and cold shower, , , house for about $30.000.US.But you need to move fast because Saigon is booming.I`m trying to do that now.But I`m getting married to a VN girl soon. Now You can`t "buy" land in VN.But they will change that law soon. They can`t develope without other countries spending money. And the other countries wont spend money if they can`t control the investment.Ie , , , , land. Hi Everyone, My wife and and I are planning to retire in Vietnam. We Have built 2 homes there already. We are both American Citizens. My family are all in the United States but my wife's relative are still in Vietnam. I'm looking to start a small American expatriate community. We've have been traveling back to Vietnam since 1992. Our country home is about 3000 sq.ft. in the Ba Ria/Vung Tau resort area. An american built, world class casino resort will be open in 2010. This resort will consist of 5 Vegas style casinos and a 200 acres Greg Norman designed golf course. This resort will be 26 miles from our home. 27 miles to the North East toward Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) there will also be a new international airport to be built by 2010. I'm trying to see how many people are interested.
