Is it possible to get a visa to retire in Vietnam? If so, what are the requirements? I am a U.S. citizen.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a retirement visa in Vietnam. Even getting married doesn't really help your visa situation, though laws are changing rapidly these days.Getting a new visa or an extension every 6 months is quite easy, though. I haven't yet left the country in 8 years; I just get a new stamp every 6 months. Kevin: the political situation is quite safe and stable here. Property prices are quite high in the cities, comparable to Western prices.

Am considering teaching (or retiring) in Vietnam, too. The 6 month extension is confusing. I see only 30 day renewable tourist type visas. What am I missing, here? I was told np to stay there and/or teach, but having a little trouble understanding the visa regulations. Thanks...

Hi ! If I decide retire in Vietnam, do I come in on a tourist visa? Also, I was wondering if my social security checks can be sent to Vietnam. Also, is there good medical insurance that I can buy in Vietnam? Thanks to anyone who can give me advice. james • Page 1 (Original Post) •
